12 January 2015 – Irish Life Sciences, Health Tech and Medical sectors are getting a boost this month with the announcement of two initiatives to support activity and growth. Minister Bruton announced an €85 million fund aimed at life sciences on Saturday and the NDRC are also seeking applicants for their FutureHealth accelerator.
The VC Fund is managed by Fountain Healthcare partners and is aimed specifically at companies operating in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical devices and diagnostics sectors is expected to make between 10 and 15 investments over its lifetime.
The fund is the first to be announced as part of the Enterprise Ireland Seed and Venture Capital Scheme 2013-2018 launched last May.
The NDRC Accelerator, aimed at clinicians, researchers, technologists and entrepreneurs involved in Med-tech, is closing applications this Thursday. The 8 week programme offers support to 10 teams aimed at accelerating potential new ventures in the rapidly growing digital health sector and help build their commercial proposition.
